  • Spartacus was one of millions who were taken from different territories--which were conquered by Rome--to work in mines, etc.
  • Spartacus was a nomad who was born in modern day Bulgaria.

  • He served in the Roman army, before being imprisoned for dissertion.

  • Spartacus was then taken to Capua from Rome by a person named Batiatus. Batiatus was the owner of the gladiatorial school; that Spartacus was being taken away to.
  • Capua
  • In 73 BCE, Spartacus's rebel had begun. Incidentally, he led 73 other slaves--using kitchen appliances and stealing weapons; to fight their way out.
  • Finally in 71 B.C.E, Spartacus's huge Rebellion was put to a stop by Rome's richest man-Crassus. Eight legions in Rome were assigned to trap Spartacus's army in the toe of Italy.
