  • wow thats a long line
  • The first thing of the day was that I got out of bed thinking about what to wear. I finished brushing my teeth and put on some jeans and a T-shirt. I went downstairs and contemplated if I should eat or not. I realized I was late and didn’t eat. I ran upstairs, grabbed my medical card and left.

  • When I arrived at the school there was a huge line. It was so loud at the school. Everyone that was in line varied in heights and were waiting and talking to their friends. There was a breeze that would go through the bars that cooled everyone off occasionally. I waited for half an hour in direct sunlight and when it was my turn something went wrong.“Hand me your medical card,” she said.I handed her my card and she looked at me.“This Is the wrong one, do you have your parents with you?” she told me.“No, I'm alone, why?” I replied.“If you can come by with your parents by 3, you'll be able to cut the line and get your id and schedule. If you can't come by today, you can come pick up your items on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or the first day of school,” she quickly said while I held the line up. I told herthanks, and left. I went onto my phone and started texting my friends. I met up with them and waited for freshman orientation.
  • Then it was time for orientation. My friends and I entered the gym. There were people greeting us and cheering when we walked down a rugged, red, and dirty carpet. We all got told certain numbers and were told to go to certain spots in the bleachers. I thought the bleachers and gym were massive. It looked like it could hold up to hundreds of people. They gave us numbers so we could know what section of the bleachers we would have to go to. We all got different numbers, but I snuck into my friend's section. Then freshman orientation started. A coach from the school walked into the middle of the gym. He picked up a mic and started yelling “West High!” No one responded and he started yelling even louder. My friend looked at me.“My ears hurt,” my friend said.“Yea, the mic volume is so loud for no reason,” I said. The yelling kept on getting louder. People were finally responding but it wasn't enough. The volume of the speakers was so loud everyone covered their ears. I couldn't wait for orientation to end. The coach stopped yelling and gave a speech about finding yourself in high school. “These 4 years will go by fast, find who you are,” he said. After the speech it was time to leave the gym and walk around the school.
  • Find yourself
  • After orientation, my friend and I were walking around the school. We learned where everything was and thought that this would be the place where we would have to suffer for 4 years. The seniors who were our tour guides started asking questions about where everything was. Every time a question was answered a prize would be given. People won T-shirts and the grand prize was a Starbucks gift card. My friend tried getting a shirt, but he failed. 30 minutes have passed since orientation ended and everyone had left, including me.
  • Next 4 years of suffering is here
  • Lastly, it was time to go home. It was blazing hot outside. Since it was still summer weather I questioned if I should walk home or get a ride. I got my phone and called my mom, but she didn't pick up the phone. I decided to walk home from orientation. I was scared to even think about attending classes in a week. I had a bad sleeping schedule at that time and couldn’t even wake up near 8. I started sweating after 20 steps. I walked across the street dripped in sweat, opened up my garage padlock and went into my house.
