- Boat
- Rising Action: Rainsford accidentally falls off of his yacht, leaving him to swim to the nearest island, which happened to be Ship Trap Island.
- Climax #1: General Zaroff introduces himself to Rainsford and tells him about his game on Ship Trap Island, encouraging Rainsford to participate.
- Climax #2: Zaroff "finds" Rainsford, but continues the game because he doesn't want it to end so soon.
- Falling Action: Zaroff finds Rainsford in his bedroom after Rainsford had "won" but challenges him due to Rainsford calling himself the prey.
- Resolution: Rainsford beats Zaroff at his own game.
