- I think it's best that we turn ourselves in to the police, I do not want to hide in that old church for the rest of my life!
- Are you out of your mind?!
- I somehow agree!
- Hey, is the old church on fire?!
- I just don't want you to get hurt in jail! They put you in the shocking chair for that, Johnny!
- We started it!
- PonyBoy, Dally and Johnny were eating at the Dairy Queen, when Johnny announces that he thinks that it is best that they turn themselves in to the police. This is because he did not want to hide in the old church for the rest of their life.
- We will get you out!
- Dally tells Johnny that he is scared that if he goes to jail, the police would put him in a shocking chair and hurt him. Dally, the dangerous crime-committing hood, surprised Johnny and PonyBoy, because it was rare when Dally showed that he actually cared about something. As Dally drives PonyBoy and Johnny past the old church, they notice that it is on fire!
- WEE-OO!
- Is Dally and Johnny going to be okay?
- Worried, Johnny and PonyBoy ran out of the car to see what was going on. They heard a faint sound of children screaming , coming from the church. Pony and Johnny came to a conclusion that they started the fire from a cigarette that they were smoking from, so they both ran into the church while Dally was yelling at them to come back.
- I am so sorry, Darry!
- I thought I lost you, PonyBoy!
- Pony and Johnny found the children afraid, in a corner. Pony and Johnny carried them one by one, and gently dropped them out the window. As PonyBoy jumped quickly out of the window, the building collapsed with Johnny inside. When Dally finds Ponyboy, Dally slaps Pony, and he keels out.
- PonyBoy wakes up in an ambulance, with a man he recognized from the crowd in front of the burning church. He tells PonyBoy that Dally slapped him, because there was fire on his back. He also told him that Dally should be okay, but he is not sure about Johnny.
- I believe that Dally is going to be just fine. However, I am not too sure about that Johnny boy...
- When PonyBoy reached the hospital, he found Darry and SodaPop coming to visit him. For the very first time, he found a tear rolling down Darry's cheek. PonyBoy realizes that Darry is so strict with him because he loves him. PonyBoy jumps into Darry's arms, and make up with each other after Darry hit PonyBoy because he came home late, before he went to the country.
