- After the Civil War, the United states entered the era known as the Reconstruction Period.
- The Reconstruction Era
- What happened during the Reconstruction Era?
- The southern (confederate) states economy and land was extremely damaged. In order to rebuild the southern states, the north came up with 3 reconstruction plans.
- What were the reconstruction plans? Who wrote them?
- Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson. and the Radical Republicans each created their own plan for reconstruction. However, Lincoln was assassinated, and the others couldnt agree on which plan to use.
- What was the 13th amendment?
- What they could agree on though, was having all southern states ratify the 13th amendment.
- The 13th amendment abolished slavery for good in all southern states. After the 13th amendment was passed, 2 more amendments involving rights were passed.
