  • The Manhattan Project
  • Tanks were a major technological advancement invented by the British in 1916 and was used on both sides. With their strong steel bodies tanks were a major offensive threat and many had gunners and cannons on top to attack infantry, buildings, other tanks, and destroy trenches. Many iconic tanks in the war were the Tiger, Panzer, and Sherman tanks.
  • Zeppelin
  • Planes played a key role in WWII. Bomber planes were able to drop bombs on specific areas to hurt the enemy troops, artillery, or supplies. Fighter planes were also used with mounted machine guns to attack other bombers and fighter or protect them from the enemy fighters.
  • Dog warfare
  • The projects was for the research and development of the first nuclear weapons. The project consisted of many physicists and scientist working to create the first ever nuclear bomb that could produce wide scale damage. Robert Oppenheimer played a major role and development of the bomb that ended the war.
  • Wojtek(bear)
  • The zeppelin was a large rigid airship named after it's German inventor Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin. The were great at taking out planes since they were hard to take down and had many gunners. These zeppelins were also used for as propaganda for the Nazis since they would paint swastikas on them and tour them through germany.
  • Many dogs were used during ww2 warfare. The most popular dogs used were boxers, German Sheppard, and Dobermans. Many of the dogs were trained to run at tanks with explosives, the Anti-tank dogs. Other dogs were trained to scout, deliver messages, and even drag soldier out of the line of fire.
  • The polish corps officially let a bear enlist into their army and gave him the rank of private and later was promoted to corporal during ww2. The bear would travel with the soldiers and even sleep and live in the same tents as them, He was mainly used to carry supplies and later was given to the Edinburgh zoo where he eventually died.
