- The Outlaw - Ethan

- Better known as Captain Obvious, Greenhill is a comedic character that gets a good laugh out of us while making useless comments that make us laugh more.
- Sidekicks are living comedy sketches
- Ethan is very clearly an outlaw, as he has been gone for years and returns just to go on an adventure again. It is also eluded to that he is a wanted criminal.
- Man's life revolves around his revolver
- Laurie is in love with Martin and overreacts when she discovers that he has a wife, not even bothering to read on. She then goes on to marry another man, only to fall back into his arms when he returns to her.
- Love transcends distance
- Greenhill acts as a sidekick to the reverend, tossing out hilariously useless comments and hitting the reverend's face when drawing his blade.
- Most of what Ethan does in the movie is based around his weapon, including every action scene and most of the adventure scenes.
- When Martin leaves, he continues to send letters to Laurie. She knows that he loves her, no matter how far away from her he is. When he finds her getting married to another man, she falls back into his arms, showing that she could never forget him.
