  • During the aprtheid, many people were forced into poverty and homelessness. Including us.
  • That later changed...
  • In 1950, The Group Areas Act created seperate residential and business sections which caused homeless and poverty.

  • In 1960, there was a massacre that killed more than 60 people and injured 180
  • This is what happened to 3.5 million other people in South Africa. They went in poverty and homelessness.
  • In 1961, The Indeminity Act made it illegal for a cop to torture and kill someone while doing their duties.
  • You're being arrested, no lawyers, no family contact, and no trial!
  • In 1952, the ANC worked with the South African Indian Congress and started a boycott and burned their passes. 8,500 people were arrested.
  • There were 180 people injured as well.
  • And 57 others were dead
