Storyboard Text

  • Salva is in school, daydreaming
  • School is attacked by Sudan government.
  • Salva tries to get to The Bush but decides to flee
  • This is the exposition in the story. We learn Salva is living in South Sudan in the middle of the 2nd civil war. His mind drifts off as he thinks about where he would rather be, at home, taking care of cattle. This event shows us how Salva normally is, which is why it's important.
  • Salva meets up with other Dinka
  • The inciting incident in A Long Walk to Water is at the part where Salva and his classmates are running to "The Bush" to get away
  • Salva meets his Uncle
  • This is a Rising action in the story, this depicts Salva running from the shooting armies and fleeing off to create conflict. This event is important because it leads him to the next Rising Action
  • Marial and Uncle are killed
  • This is the next Rising Action in the story, Salva meets with other Dinka who are hesitating on whether or not to bring him along, then an old lady convinces them. This is important because it gives Salva people to talk to and it leads him to meeting Uncle
  • In this Rising Action Salva meet his Uncle and they are happy because they thought they had no family left, Uncle is seen as the leader for having a Gun. This Rising Action make the reader feel happy for Salva. It is important because it makes the next Rising Action sad.
  • In this Rising Action Marial, Salva's best friend, and his Uncle are killed. This creates drama. it is important because it gives Salva a reason to keep going.
