- Galileo believed that Nicholas Copernicus' heliocentric theory was correct. He found his evidence whenhe observed four moons in orbit around Jupiter. Beginning on January 7, 1610, he mapped nightly the position of the 4 “Medicean stars”

- 1624-1629:With the evidence he needed, Galileo wrote a book supporting the heliocentric theory.On February 1632 Galileo published his book called “Two Chief World Systems” in Florence. Caused a stir in public and had many controversies

- The Inquisition and Church banned the publishing of the book in 1632 August. Galileo was summoned back to Rome to be on trial.

- The catholic church did not like what Galileo had discovered, as it disagreed with the belief that the Earth should be at the center of the universe.
