- Today's Topic:What is Cancer and how can I avoid it?
- Class today we're going to be talking about cancer, what causes it, and how to prevent it!
- Cancer- Uncontrolled cell growth
- Cancer is uncontrolled cell growth. In mitosis there are checkpoints to check for mutations, if these checkpoints are skipped then the cells aren't checked and mutations can occur, causing cancer

- We don't need a silly checkpoint
- Cancer can be very scary, we don't have a cure, but we do have treatments. These treatments include: Radiation, Sugery, Chemotherapy, and the newest treatment is Immunotherapy.
- The good thing is you're not hopeless in your fight against cancer! There are plenty of things you can do to prevent getting cancer! Some of those things include: a healthy diet, getting vaccinations against certain viruses (some of those vaccines include Gardasil, Cervaix, and the Hepatitis B vaccine) and using things like sunscreen to avoid UV rays, and avoiding any use of tobacco.
- *Vegetables contain antioxidants and vitamins to help your body stay working the way it should*
- Although your habits can help you prevent cancer that's not all you can do, you can do more to help prevent cancer, you can do screening to search for any cancer growth, genetic testing for diagnostic prevention, and medication (Inflammatory tend to help the most, Aspirin can reduce your risk of cancer by 7%)
