  • LOGGING san fancisco,California was a shipping port.They needed wood for the ship.They went to Washington because there was alot of trees.
  • FISHING AND CANNERIES At first people got fish from the Pacific Ocean and Washington deep rivers,then harvested it.Then Robert Hume invented a easier to way preserve fish.30 canneries sold the fish to South America, Britain,Australia and Chin.
  • COAL MINING Miners in the Puget Sound Lowland and the Cascade Mountains found coal.Some miners were from Chinese, England,Wales,and a big group of African Americans.In 1886 Kittitas County found high quality coal.
  • GROWTH OF AGRICULTURE In Walla Walla farmer grew hop and wheat.Native Americans,white man, Chinese, and Hispanic males worked in the field toghther.
  • GROWTH OF AGRICULTURE Washington apple were really importantcrop in the 1900's,so when the Irrigation projects it made it possible for orchard grow in Yakima,Wenatchee and Okanogan. Since lack of water and land right, cattleman had to move at the cascade mountain.It also caused conflict with native Americam when ranchers crossed there land.
