Why are you using the boys bathroom? I don't want you look at my d***!!
What are you a f*****? You look like one, f*****!
What should teachers do if they see a child being harassed for being queer?
Confront the situation immediately! Do not punish the victims, punish the bullies.
Bullying will never be tolerated in this school! Both of you go to the office immediately.
I am sorry that those boys are harassing you. I will always be there for you, come to my classroom if this happen again.
Speak to the victim privately, express your sympathy, and remind them your classroom is a safe space.
Thank you.
Do not contact a parent or tell other teachers/students about a victim's sexuality. They may not be out to their family or peers yet. Offer your support directly to the victim.
In your class, let students know that you will defend them if they are being harassed. Do not call out specific students. Remind everyone that your classroom is a safe space. If your school has a GSA, promote it. Let students know what teachers are associated with the club as well.
GSA Meeting Todayin Room 222 with Mr. Brown and myself!
