"One day when Idek was venting his fury, I happened to cross his path. He threw himself on me like a wild beast , beating me in the chest, on my head, throwing me to the ground and picking me up again, crushing me with more violent blows, until I was covered in blood" (Wiesel 53). Idek is beating up Elie because he was mad. This is an example of man vs man.
Man vs God
"After two days of travel, thirst became intolerable, as did the heat" (Wiesel 23). With them walking in the blazing heat without resy\t made them very thirsty and very hot. All the jews had to deal with this heat which killed a lot of them.
Man vs Society
"I stood petrified. What had happened to me? My father had just been struck, in front of me, and I had not even blinked" (Wiesel 39). Elie's father gets slapped so hard that he falls to the ground and Elie doesn't do anything about it. Elie starts to ask himself how much he's really changed.
"For the first time, I felt anger rising within me. Why should I sanctify His name? The Almighty, the eternal and terrible Master of the Universe, chose to be silent. What was there to thank Him for " (Wiesel 33). At this point in the book Elie starts wondering if God was real. Elie believes that if God was real, then all these bad things wouldn't be happening.
"And then, one day all foreign jews were expelled from Sighet" (Wiesel 6). The Hungarian police deported all of the foreign Jews from Sighet. They were loaded into cattle cars and sent off over the horizon.
