- (1600s) I, along with several other people was kidnapped during a slave raid. We have been marched here, on a slave coast, waiting to be boarded onto a ship and brought to the Americas as slaves.
- It was worse on the ship. We would not only be mocked, but several of us died due to starvation and sicknesses. Some of us as well committed suicide not wanting to continue on. Barely any oxygen, and so hot, I don't blame them. (15-25% of slaves died).

- We were stuffed together, chained tightly.We only were let outside a few hours a day. I could only think about what laid ahead with my siblings. Ceilings were low so that we could not stand, and barely sit up.
- Many people I knew died along the way. Some tried to rebel, but nothing was successful. I overhear we'll be brought to an auction house where we'll be bought & branded.
- And then we were brought out to the streets to be auctioned. Our ears would be cut off, and we'd be branded.
- Come on, come all! We've a new assortment of fine workers for you!
- Like most slaves, I went to work agricultural. Specifically, I was on a sugar plantation. Only few slaves would be used domestically or for artisan's work.
