  • Kane's tragic flaw is to constantly strive to give himself and others what his mother took from him.

  • Isolation of himself and Susan in Xanadu without letting them leave or anyone in,  he does this out of pride and excessive control over events that happen.
  • Nemesis/Catharsis
  • After Kanes loss of the election, his marriage to Susan becomes the turning point towards better fortune.
  • KANE CAUGHT WITH "SINGER"
  • Kane picks up the snow-globe and says "Rosebud" and he truly realizes the root of his pain.
  • Nemesis: Susan's absence.  Catharsis: When Rosebud is burning at the end of movie, the audience feels sympathy for Kane.
