  • Cardinal Richelieu under King Louis XIII set down policies to take power from the Nobility. Nobles and Princes were tired of the Royalist Faction and wanted change. Because of the they formed a rebellion and fought hard against the your Louis XIV.
  • Defeat
  • And that is why we should kill that Tyrant!
  • Shut up Conde.

  • in 1648 a tax levy on judicial officers of the Parlimant of Paris provoked them to not nearly refuse to pay, but also condemed earlier financial edicts and demanded for the acceptance of the sceme of consitutional reform. Because of the Thirty Years the French army was fighting and wasnt able to hold up to the rebrellion. This meant that the Royalist faccion promised reform and change. This is considered the first success of the war.
  • Franco-Spanish War
  • The rebellion changes course and now every social class rebels against the Royalists and the King. This part of the rebellion is important because it showed that everyone was against the king. The Leader of the opposition was known as Conde.
  • King Louis XIV reigns supreme

  • As Conde lost support from the Bourgeois and the Nobility, the rebellion weakened and lost moral. Because of this, young Louis XIV returned to Paris and peace for the royalists what restored.
  • During the rebellion the Franco-Spanish war was going on and it had huge influence on the decisions taken by the Royalists that affected the Nobility and the commoner. THe raising of taxes for example was because of the Franco-Spanish war and the 30 years war and this angered the people.
  • The rebellion wanted less power for the king and instead the king got more power becoming the first absolute monarch. 
  • I think we traveled to the wrong time period....
