- In this scene above, Congressman Abraham Lincoln is addressing Congress about the action that President James Polk took to invade a neighboring nation.He stated that the very reason the Constitution was created was to prevent actions by one man like this to declare a war "whenever he may choose."He criticized the Congress by saying that the power was given to them by the Constitution but they are allowing the President to act as a King and "bring oppression on us," making him no different than a King,
- In this scene above is at Matamoros, General Francisco Mejia of the Mexican Army was criticizing the Americans for violating their agreement with Texas.General Mejia said that "the right of conquest has always been a crime against humanity" and that it is covered up with "the splendour of arms and prestige of victory." He is telling the United States that they chose to be treacherous in order to obtain possession of Texas in the midst of peace from a friendly nation -which was his nation.
- In this scene above, President James Polk was addressing the Senate and the House of Representatives. He was reminding them that Mexico was a threat to invade Texas and he sent military forces to take a position between the Nueces and Del Norte Rivers.Now that the Congress of Texas declared the Rio del Norte to be the boundary, it was now more important to defend that portion of the country from the Mexican forces.
