Storyboard Text

  • Sure thing, Mr. Baltimore. I know that all living things need food and water to survive.
  • A place to sleep and be safe from the weather.
  • Today, we'll be talking about the survival needs of people and animals. Tell me, what do you think animals need to survive?
  • What do you mean, Mr. B?
  • Of course! He means that different animals need different things to feed on and build their homes with.
  • Good answers, Tina and Tony. But can you be more specific?
  • Oh. In that case, I'm pretty sure owls live in hollow trees, or on cliffsides.
  • Spiders live near any nook and cranny they can build their webs on.
  • Good. Now let us go outside and see other examples of animals and their shelters.
  • This is gonna be so cool!
  • Now that we've discussed and seen animal shelters, I want you to build habitats for an animal with the natural materials provided.
  • Time to show what I can come up with.
  • Mine is a log with a hole in it. This would be a perfect home for a small barn owl.
  • Mine is a few twigs. They would provide the perfect support for a spider's web.
  • Please describe your animal shelters and what animal uses them.
  • Yeah!
  • Thanks, Mr. Baltimore!
  • Excellent work. Now you know what animals need to survive. Some day you might find this knowledge very useful.
