Martin Luther King Jr. talked about how many African Americans were treated very poorly in his letter. African Americans were not treated as free people and were restricted to black only places like restaurants and bathrooms.

Martin Luther King Jr. had to tell his own daughter that she couldn't go to an amusement park because it was for whites only. He had to watch his daughter cry in front of him and he couldn't do anything about it. He wanted to create change for the African American community.
