  • In the late 1700’s electricity was all the rage
  • During the 1780’s many of the countries of Europe came together to create a competition that could produce the strongest flow of electricity through a circuit to win an enormous prize.
  • Georg Ohm worked with lots of different types of metals to build his “perfect” conductor"
  • One day, German Teacher turned Scientist, Georg Ohm made a very important discovery
  • he tried Iron wire, but found it became hot very quickly
  • Next he tried aluminium, which worked better, but still produced some heat.
  • Lastly, Georg used copper and found out that this worked extremely well which developed Ohm's Law
  • Ohm realised that heat was a reflection of the amount of resistance in a circuit
