The department of transport of Nordic country State maintains a set of highways/motorways. Cars need to pay for the distance travelled through a particular highway. Each entry and exit of a highway have a camera to identify when a car goes in or goes out from the highway.
There are toll operators who are responsible to collect the toll on behalf of the department of transport. One highway is managed by one toll operator. By evaluating the tenders, highways are allocated to a toll operator for management.

Cars can have Radio-frequency Identification (RFID)tags on it and through that, payment can be deducted once a car passes through the highway.

Else, the operators can send bills to the cars. Bills can be monthly or after each travel based on the contract type.

Cars can settle the bill manually or through bank transfer or a self-service portal. Cars can be owned by any individual or transport company.
Cars can come from other EU countries, and in that case, the bill needs to be sent to the car’s home country and in the currency. Drivers would prefer to use their mother tongue while accessing the system.
