  • In the 1700's, when the U.S. first gained it's independence, the main mode of transportation was still horse-drawn carriages.
  • Ughh these horses are so slow.
  • AHOY FELLOW AMERICAN!
  • The only mode of sea travel during this founding era was wooden sailboats.
  • Out of nowhere, the English created the steam engine and industrialized! The U.S. followed suit, and soon enough, trains spanned the continent.
  • The steam engine was also used to create steamboats at this time. This led to the gas and nuclear powered boats we have today.
  • GET OFF THE ROAD CRAZY!
  • Once the combustion engine was invented, cars became the main mode of transportation in the U.S.A..
  • This new technology also allowed for the creation of the first practical modes of air travel, planes and rockets!
