- Mr. Summers, the head of the lottery, first creates the slips in the coal factory. The day, all of the townspeople gather and get ready for the lottery. The boys start to gather the rocks well the adults get the box ready.
- Climax
- After everything is prepared, Mr. Summers takes attendance to make sure the whole village is there. After attendance, the lottery begins and slips of paper are drawn.
- Falling Action
- As the lottery goes on, people get nervous. The families that still need to pick are running out. When the time is up, the Hutchinson's get picked and Tessie protests
- Resolution
- After the Hutchinson's get picked, they have to pick individually to see who will "Win" the lottery. All of the family members have to pick, even the kids. When they reveal the "Winner", Tessie is picked.
- After Tessie gets picked, she is mad that she has to be sacrificed. All of the towns members get there rocks ready, even the kids. One lady picked up a rock that she had to lift with two hands. The people throw the rocks.
- After the Rocks are thrown, Tessie dies. Even though the lottery isn't right, it is the tradition of the town. Tradition is storng because they keep doing the lottery, even if it is outdated.
