- one afternoon, Alice, Ben, and Charlie were walking through the park when they park when they saw a man running quickly toward them
- Alice looked at him and said
- that man must be in a hurry. Look at how fast he"s running!
- he could be late for something important. But he doesn"t look that worried
- he might be running away from danger. what if there"s a problem nearby?

- the man stoped in front of them, breathing heavily. He said:
- Alice: If we hurry, we might find your dog before it runs too far. Otherwise, it could get lost in th cityBen: If you tell us what your dog looks like, we will be able to help you better. We cant"t help if we don"t know what to look for!
- excuse me, have you seen a dog? I think he ran this away!
- If the dog is scared, it might run into the street and could get hurt! We need to act fast!
- The man described his dog, and together they began to search for it
- If we don"t find him soon, the poor dog might get lost for good

- Finally, after a few minutes of searching, Alice saw the dog running near the lake. The man was so grateful that he said
- If you hadn"t helped me, I wouldn"t have found him this quickly!
- If we check near the playground first, we might be able to find him there. Dogs like to run toward noisy places
- If we split up, we might cover more ground and find him sooner.
