Storyboard Text

  • This battle started on Sept. 13, 1814, at the U.S. Ft. McHenry near Baltimore. The American fort that guarded Baltimore harbor, was bombarded for 27 hours straight. The attack failed, and on the morning of September 14th, the U.S flag still flew above Ft. McHenry. (This inspired Francis Scott Key to write Star Spangled Banner)
  • Oh No!! We lost!!
  • Hmm, I should write a poem on this event. I'll call it, "The star-spangled Banner"!!
  • On August 24, 1814, British forces marched into Washington D.C. and set fore to several key buildings including the White House and the Capitol. Government official, along with President James Madison had to evacuate the city.
  • Oh no! They burned the White House! RUN!! RUN!!
  • Ahhh!!!
  • On January 8, 1815, the British army invaded the city of New Orleans. Andrew Jackson assembled a last-minute militia that included Native Americans, pirates, freed African Americans, and ordinary citizens to defend the city. Jackson wind the battle and becomes a war hero.
  • Charge!!!!! Fight 'em with all you've got!!!
