  • But why?
  • Hey! You know if you kick the ball harder the ball will go faster and you'll score!
  • Try it out yourself!
  • SHEEEESH!
  • See? You scored!
  • A father and son are playing soccer together. Since the son has never played before, the father is telling his son some tips to score.
  • The son scores, and is surprised.
  • Dang that soccer ball be bussin
  • The father has to go inside to do work, but the son wants to keep on playing. He wants to experiment on kicking the ball in soccer, so he set up a camera of him kicking the ball hard and light. When he kicked it too light, so the ball didn't go in the goal.
  • Wow! Soccer is basically a series of energy conversions which shows the energy transform and transfer into different types of energy.
  • When the son kicked the ball hard, just like what happened with his dad, the ball went in the goal.
  • When looking at his recording, he notices that whenever he kicks it, whether it was hard or light, the ball starts compressing and deformation occurs, and then it starts decompressing and returns back to normal. He also noticed that the ball compresses more when he kicks it harder, and it feels warmer when playing with the lights off then rather with the lights off at night.
  • He does some research and learned that soccer was an example of an energy conversion. The ball first showed mostly Elastic energy when it compressed and decompressed after he kicked the ball. After he kicked the ball and the it was in motion it mostly showed Kinetic energy. When the ball was at it's highest point in the air, Gravitational energy was mostly present. Elastic energy was present again, when the ball hit the net and absorbed most of the energy and transferred it into thermal energy. Another transformation occurred when the ball hit the ground making more thermal energy. The final transformation which happened was when the light energy from the light he was playing in transferred into thermal energy when the son absorbed it.
