- It was dry season ,and the river was just a shallow muddy stream.Ranji walked up and down without finding water deep enough for the smallest of fish.So he walked back to the bazaar.
- Ranji's stomach was rumbling .He ran to the Jumna sweet Shop and tossed the coin on the counter.The sweet seller examined the coin and gave Ranji jalebi.
- The shopkeeper denied to take the coin .
- I don't suppose it's worth much,but my uncle collects old coins.Give it to me and I'll give you the rod

- When Ranji reached the clock tower, he found koki waiting.Koki was hungry so they sat on the bench,and koki helped ranji finish the jalebis
- A trade was made ,and the barefoot boy rested the rod on his shoulder and went on his way.
