At the beginning of the story we meet Blake. Blake is a 16 year old girl who loves the game of volleyball. She starts varsity as libero in middle back and she is the team's strongest server. She plays for the Arizona Eagles.
Her team has worked extremely hard to get to where they are now. They are less than 2 weeks away from competing in the state tournament. The are coming in as the one seed, having just took first in the divisional tournament.
In the middle of the story it is the weekend of the state tournament. If the Eagles can win their first two games, they will be guaranteed a spot in the championship game. They win their first game against the Bulldogs and Blake has a great game with 7 aces, and several diving saves.
The second game passes and they just barely squeezed through with a win. The Mustangs were a tough team. Blake hadn't had her best game with a few errors, but she was still pumped her team was now in the state chipper.
It was the championship game and Blake was extremely eager to get on the court. They win the first set. Then lose the second set. Then lose the third set again. But win the fourth set. Which brought it down to the fifth set, the race to 15. The score is tight back and forth. Blake makes a good play here but then misses a ball there. The score is 14-13, Eagles are up by one.
One more point and the Eagles win the state championship. Serves up and it's a long volley back and forth. Panther's setter sets up the middle hitter and BAM! Just when they thought they had tied it all up, the celebrate too early and Blake makes a diving save sending the ball over to land in and fare. Eagles win.
