  • TIGER IN THE ZOOBY LESLIE NORRIS
  • He stalks in his vivid stripes
  • He should be lurking in shadow,Sliding through long grass
  •
  • Near the water hole. Where plump deer pass.
  • The few steps of his cage, On pads of velvet quiet,In his quiet rage.
  • Baring his white fangs, his claws,Terrorising the village!
  • The poet explains that, He must be in his natural habitat. Lurking through the shadows and hiding behind tall grasses. Waiting for its prey.
  • He hears the last voice at night, The patrolling cars
  • The Tiger should be masking itself near the water holes. Choosing its victims, preys.
  • He should be growling around the houses. Petrifying and terrorizing the whole village and asserting its dominance.
  • But there it was, in its lonesome cage. Behind bars and ignoring strangers. It dreams to go back to its real life, to the forest and the jungle. It looked at the brilliant night sky.
