  • What is Perimeter Ritu Ma'am?
  • PERIMETER
  • So students today we are going to study Perimeter
  • But how can we measure the perimeter of a shape?
  • PERIMETER
  • Perimeter means the measure of the boundary of a particular shape.
  • Oh ok Ma'am! Let's see
  • PERIMETER
  • We can find the perimeter of a shape by measuring its boundary. Let's see how -
  • 10 cm
  • 10 cm
  • Ok Ritu Ma'am now I am able to understand Perimeter, but what about a rectangle is it the same process as a square?
  • PERIMETER
  • So for example if we take this square with side 15 cm, we will add 15 four times because we already know that a square has all 4 sides equal so we will do 15+15+15+15 = 60 or 15 x 4 = 60 cm.
  • Ok Mark, let's see for a rectangle.
  • Oh ok Ma'am! So it is a totally different way for a Rectangle!
  • PERIMETER
  • Yes Mark, You're Right!
  • 20 cm
  • 5 cm
  • Now, for example if we take this rectangle with length 20 cm and breadth 5 cm so the Perimeter will be 20+5+20+5 = 50 cm or 2 (length+breadth) which is 2x20+5 which is 2x25 = 50 cm
  • The length of this rectangular board is 40 cm and the breadth is 20 cm so the Perimeter will be 40+20+40+20 = 120 cm or 2 (length+breadth) which is 2x40+20 which is 2x60 = 120 cm.
  • PERIMETER
  • Wow Mark, you're a quick learner! Amazing!
  • 40 cm
  • So Mark can you tell me the Perimeter of this board?
  • 20 cm
