The USSR secretly planted nukes in Cuba to attack the USA in 1962. This was a big moment in history as the two powers became the closest to nuclear conflict than ever before.
The Berlin Wall fell down 5 days after half a million Germans came to protest. It broke the separation between East Germany and west Germany. These events ultimately weakened the Soviet Union and led to its collapse.
