- I, Christopher Columbus, was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1451. As an adolescent, I was able to acquire a position as a worker on a merchant ship. In 1476, unfortunately, pirates attacked the ship I worked in.
- I was forced to go to Lisbon, Portugal when the ship sank. I decided to pursue an education in astronomy and navigation. I was mostly self-taught, teaching myself how to read and write. However, I did attend Prince Henry’s School of Navigation in Sagres, which satisfied my oceanic curiosities.

- In my time, it was deemed impossible to travel to Asia from Europe by land. So, I decided to go on my first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. The country of Portugal was not willing to fund my expedition, so I went to the King of Spain instead, who willingly paid for my voyage. I wished for a great fortune of money and wealth that I wished to be the result of the voyage.
- Well, I suppose this is quite unequivocal. I aspire to earn my coinage from the Spanish King soon.
