  • Exposition
  • "I want to be smart. My name is charlie Gordon. I am 37 years old."
  • Rising Action
  • "If the operashun works Ill show that mouse I can be as smart as he is. Maybe smarter. "
  • Rising Action
  • "The operashun dint hurt."
  • This is Charlie. He is a very determined mentally challenged man, who dreams of being smart. He wants to be used by Dr.Strauss to get smart.
  • Climax
  • "I put Algernon's body in a cheese box and buried him in the back yard. I cried"
  • Charlie is told to take many tests and write in a journal so Dr. Strauss can see if he wants to use him (for an operation). One of the tests, Is a maze for a mouse named Algernon. Charlie cannot beat him.
  • Falling Action
  • Charlie got out of the operation, and didn't notice a change. As time goes by, His grammar, punctuation, and memorization improves. He even beats Algernon, and they become friends. Soon, Charlie Gordon becomes a Genius. He notices that Algernon's behavior is changing though.
  • Resolution
  • "1m going someplace where nobody knows that Charlie Gordon was once a genus and now he cant even reed a book or rite good"
  • On June 8th, Algernon dies. Charlie buries him in his backyard and brings flowers for him once a week. Charlie is now feeling more depressed and hopeless. He notices himself starting to fade out of his "genius" element. 
  • Charlie is now back to stage 1, but maybe worse. He lives alone, cannot pay his own rent, has no job, forgets everything, and is lonely. Charlie doesn't want people to feel bad for him, so he blocks them out.
  • Suddenly, Everyone is being really nice to Charlie. The people that once made fun of him, are now defending him. Everyone is apologizing to him, and he doesn't like it. Charlie doesn't want anyone to feel bad for him. He leaves New York for good, hoping that would be able to help all of the people like him. His people.
