- Peasants during the Han dynasty were forced to work the land the upper class owned, making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Consequently, the peasants converted from Confucianism (follow the law) to Daoism (live simply with nature).

- Eventually, the peasants got fed up with their social/economical position and under leader Zhang Jue, started the Yellow Turban Rebellion against the corrupt Han government. This led to 20 years of civil war and eventually, to the end of the Han dynasty.

- After the fall of the Han dynasty, China split into 3 kingdoms, the Wei, the Wu, and the Shu-Han. In 263, the Wei conquered the Shu-Han under Cao Pi and in 280, the Wei conquered the Wu under Wudi, who would then go on to found the Jin dynasty.

- China's golden age flourished during the Song dynasty. There was new farming and military technology that was invented and trading via the Silk Road increased prosperity and culture in China. Neo-Confucianism was also invented and made popular.
