  • Caste System in India
  • This is a Brahmin, an example of a Brahmin would be a priest and a priest performs worship services. Brahmins are normally better educated and have land and money.
  • This is a Kshatriya, examples of Kshatriyas would be ruler, kings, and warriors and they rule and if warriors they fight. Kshatriyas govern and protect the country and they make up 20% of India's upper caste.
  • This is an example of a Vaishya, examples of Vaishyas would be merchants, craftsman, landowners, and skilled workers and they do work, farm, or trade. Vaishyas at the age of 5 would start to get educated and they were not allowed to know about Vedas.
  • This is 2 examples of Sundras, examples of Sundras would be farmworkers, unskilled workers, and servants and they do hard work and agricultural work. Sundras don't get rights or privileges and they can't perform sacrifices. Shudras are 52% of Indians and the Shudra population is more than twice the one of the U.S.
  • This is 2 examples of Dalits (untouchables), examples of Dalits would be street sweepers, clean up human/animal waste, and deal with dead bodies and they pretty much do all the gross work that no one else would do. The women have to deal with a lot of abuse and there is over 200 million Dalits in India.
