hmm..It hasn't rained in a while. I'm gonna lose my crops if it does not rain.

During this time period farming with open dirt was really common. There were tons of acres of open dirt in the south. The problem was no rain. The soil was dry on open ground, easy for wind to pick up. This all happened in the 1930's. People weren't aware of what natural disasters was coming next.

Soon winds picked-up the open dirt.Farmers couldn't escape the fast winds picking up all that dirt. These winds with the soil created the dust bowl. THe dustbowl destroyed tons and tons of homes and people in the south.

Soon everyone went inside but homes for protection. During these time periods homes weren't built for dust storms. The sand came inside of the homes and no one could do anything. The radio was the only was of hearing what's happening and they were not working either. People got hurt and even killed from this severe of a storm..
