  • Beginning with young P.T. Barnum and Charity. Charity comes from a very wealthy family. Barnum is poor, treated badly, and hungry. Ignoring her family's wishes, Charity moves to New York with Barnum.
  • ClimaxTightrope
  • This song shows the start of Barnum's circus. The recruiting of his crew, the beginning of their talents, and him show slowly becoming a success.
  • Falling ActionFrom Now On
  • He doesn't allow his performers to join the party for Jenny Lind. They feel rejected once again and rebel by singing This is Me to show that they no longer want to hide themselves.
  • ResolutionThe Greatest Show
  • Barnum has went on tour with famous singer Jenny Lind leaving his daughters and wife behind. As Charity misses her husband she sings about how his absence has affected her and foreshadows how it will soon affect his circus.
  • After protesters burned down the circus, Barnum goes to the bar. His crew comes and calls him out for it. Barnum sings "From Now On" to symbolize him changing and keeping his promises. To me, this is Barnum showing that he's gonna change from the fame hungry man he had become to the man who just wants to entertain people.
  • The role of the circus in this movie is to give a home to the people rejected by society. The cirucs helped build the confidence of rather unusual people.
