“On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees”
“The water is warm too, for it slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool.”
“The first man was small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features.”
“Behind him walked the opposite, a huge man shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes…”
This quote is showing the leadership skills that George has.
"Well you ain't petting no mice while you walk with me."
This quote shows Lennie's childlike nature and his love for soft things
"I could pet it with my thumb while we walk."
FRIENDSHIP
Friendship is one of the themes in the story because george and lennie are friends and they travel together.
Loneliness is a theme in the book, because George wants to have a life with other people, but he is stuck looking after Lennie.
I predict that something bad is going to happen once they have been on the ranch, just like something happened in Weed. Since Lennie forgets a lot, and he likes to touch soft things, he is going to try and touch something he isn't supposed to and hes going to get in trouble.
