“My dear old friends, may I reckon on your aid inperforming an exceedingly curious experiment?”
if the rose came back to life I may become younger I shall try it.
"With your permission, therefore, I will merely watch the progress of the experiment."
Once, you drink this you will become your younger self again.
Heidegger claims that he has water from the fountain of youth. His offer to share this water represents the central conflict.
“My dear old doctor, pray favor me with another glass!”
Uhh.. Oh..
This is Heidegger welcoming his guests. Also, he is telling them a little information about the magic water and the experiment.
I have learned a lesson and I will not cry or lament for the magical water.
I would not stoop to bathe my lips in it
The guests drank water and as they saw things changing they kept drinking. This made them appear younger, their behaviors changed and asked for more of that magic water. (vase broke)
Yes
We need more of that magic water.
But the doctor’s four friends had taught no such lesson to themselves. Theyresolved forthwith to make a pilgrimage to Florida,
But then suddenly they are back to their normal selves. But since the vase broke they had no more magic water to make them youthful again.
“Yes, friends ye are old again,”
Heidegger learned a lesson but the guests didn't. The guests just wanted to become younger. (he realizes that is not what it was about)
After his experiment the guests left. They didn't learn a single lesson they wanted more magic water because they wanted to feel young, therefore they moved to Florida where the fountain of youth was said to be.
