Storyboard Text

  • Odysseus's journey continued after the encounter with the lotus eaters. His crew's ship got washed up on an unfamiliar island. Him and his crew decided to stay there overnight and regain energy. In the morning, Odysseus decided to take 12 of his men and go further into the island and see if they could find some food to bring back. Odysseus took a sack of wine, along with other equipment on the journey.
  • While looking for food and supplies, the crew stumbled upon a big open cave.
  • Once Odysseus and his men went into the cave, he told them that they should wait for the owner to come home so he could offer them more food. The whole crew was starving, so they decided to eat some of the food that had been left behind. While they waited for the hospitality, the owner came back home.
  • Let's sit down and eat. We can wait for the owner to return.
  • The crew saw that the owner was a cyclops. named Polyphemus. instead of receiving hospitality, The cyclops ate two of Odysseus's men. On the way in, Polyphemus had barricaded the entrance of the cave, giving them no way out.
  • Odysseus used the wine and offered it to the cyclops to make him drunk. When he let his guard down, Odysseus and his men used a sharpened piece of wood to stick into the cyclops's eye and blind him.
  • In the morning, Polyphemus let his sheep out. Since the cyclops was blinded, Odysseus came up with the idea of hiding his men under his sheep as a way to escape. Polyphemus used his sense of touch to feel the top of his sheep and checked if Odysseus was trying to escape on the sheep, not knowing they were underneath. The crew escaped and ran to their boat where the rest of their men were.
  • The End.
  • When Odysseus and his men get to the boat, Odysseus yells to get Polyphemus's attention. He reveals that his name is Odysseus from Ithaca. Out of rage, Polyphemus throws a rock at the direction of Odysseus's voice. He was outraged and prayed that his father, Poseidon, the god of sea, would cause trouble to Odysseus and his crew on his way home.
