- Sarah and her family grew up in a town called Flint. They ate breakfast together every day and often drank tap water.
- They drank a glass of tap water every morning and night.
- Sarah's parents quickly began to realize their daughter was falling behind in school.
- Parents of the town soon realized these issues were occuring with all their children, and went to the doctor. The doctor concluded that they had lead poisoning.
- The symptoms in their children included delay in development, learning difficulties, irritability loss in appetite, fatigue weight loss, vomiting, abdominal pain, hearing loss, constipation, and seizures.
- The lead was from pipes that carried lead into the towns water source The problem has been addressed but is still a problem for the town of Flint
- Soon the parents realized that they'd been experiencing symptoms as well. They were increased blood pressure, joint pain, memory difficulties, headaches, mood disorders, and abdominal pain. The parents simply ignored these symptoms as signs of aging and were more focused on their children's health.
