- THIS IS AUGUST PULLMAN. HE WAS BORN WITH A FACIAL DEFORMITY. ALTHOUGH HE DOES ALL THE THINGS A NORMAL KID WOULD DO, HE DOES NOT LOOK NORMAL
- Auggie's mom thinks that it is time for Auggie to go to school, so his mom arranged a tour of the school for Auggie.
- Jack and Charlotte were really nice to me but Julian was not.
- Even my birth was hillarious!
- I have had 27 surgeries till then, some made me look better, some made me hear without hearing aids etc but none of them made me look normal.
- Auggie was ready to start school. His sister Via said to him If they stare, let them stare. You can't blend in when you are born to stand out. Auggie settles into the first few months of school and his classmates slowly get used to the way his face looks. He becomes friends with Jack and a girl named Summer, who sits with him at lunch on the first day.
- Apparently, a rumor that touching Auggie will give you the plague arises, so his classmates make a point of avoiding touching him, so that Auggie begins to feel alienated.
