- Alex's parents notice he comes home upset from school yesterday, going straight to his room. In his room, he is stressing about an upcoming test in math class. He is upset because he doesn't understand it.
- Threat Simulation Theory
- When he is in his room, he continues to pace around the room and does not know what to do. He eventually goes to sleep with the test in the very front of his mind.

- Within his dream, he is back in the classroom. He is shivering and sweating has the teacher passes out the test. Feeling the very same way he felt before sleeping, he felt very frustrated and angry with himself as his pencil touched the test paper. He suddenly is awake, back in his room, with those same feelings of dread and frustration.

- Alex hates doctor's appointments, especially when they are shots. Today, his parents told him that he needed to get a flu shot. Despite his parents' attempts to tell him getting a flu shot is good for the winter season he still became very angry and scared for it. At 9:00 he finally falls asleep in fear but, is ready to face his fears.
- In his dream, he is dragged out of his house by his parents getting into the car, screaming.
- Once, he is in the room, Dr. Hess-Marcoux assured him that it will be just a pinch. She numbs the skin, and then tells Alex to count to 3. 1...2..3...and it's over. He wakes up sweating but he feels that he can conquer it at his actual appointment.
