  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt grew up in Hyde Park, New York. He was educated at Harvard, and Columbia Law School. In 1910 he started his political career as New York State Senate. He earned a reputation as a progressive reformer. In 1921 after his loss of vice-president for the democratic party, he caught polio, and withdrew from politics. Eventually after regaining his strength, he rejoined politics in the mid 1920s becoming NY governor, and gaining popularity. He ran on the Democratic side in 1932, and took created many solutions in hope to solve the Great Depression.
  • FDR opted for government influence to fix the failing economy during the Great Depression. He created the New Deal which included ideas like bank holidays, insurance programs, public works programs, relief funds, employment opportunities, and business reforms. FDR creates policies which reformed government, policies, created relief for the people, and economic recovery.
  • FDR wanted to bring change for the people, and economy by utilizing government aid. He was able to educate the US citizens on his new policies, in order to calm their worries. FDR's philosophies contributed to the solving of the Great Depression, and some of these policies are still in use today.
