  • Things change such as textbooks, through racism and idealism. One thing still has not changed ........
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act passed by Prs.Franklin Pierce to try to solve slavery through popular sovereignty 
  • Popular sovereignty is the federal territory settled themselves slave state or union free
  • Northers Came quick for the free land of farming, while the southerns more so came with their slaves. "Border ruffians" raided the town of Lawrence . Burning down hotel and 2 printing presses.
  • John Brown and his sons went out the night of May 24, 1856 killed 5 Pro-slavery men on a settlement on Pottawatomie creek, seen as a retaliation on this midnight attack 
  • Soon to be captured, after son died in his hands, and surrounded by militia
  • Harper's Ferry October 16, 1859 John Brown and supports some of his sons, 18 captured citizens and federal armory  in hopes of creating a revolution to destroy the slavery institution 
  • John Brown now seen as a hero for his efforts of anti-slavery, seen by some as reason for the civil war and abolitionist leader pre civil war 
  • After captured, John Brown was convicted of tried of murder, slave insurrection, treason against the state. Hanged on December 2, 1859 Virginia
