As many people came and gathered around Jesus, he got into the boat and started speaking to them.
The sowerMark 4:1-9
"A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up."
“Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
The Disciples then asked him
“Why do you speak to the people in parables?”
Jesus then talked about what happened to the seeds that fell off the path
"But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. "
He continued to say the parable
"Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”
Jesus then said to them
“Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
A few disciples then came up to Jesus when it was less crowded and asked him for clarification on why he spoke to them with a parable.
"Those who have no wish to dive below the surface are free to go on their way, while those who are drawn in by the simple stories will receive answers for their questions, answers which will eventually lead to forgiveness."
