  • The Colonists had general George Washington, french general Marquis de Lafayette, and prussian general Friedrich von Steuben.
  • Military Unit Untrained/Unorganized
  • The Colonists wanted their freedom they deserved. They were willing to give up their lives to get the freedom everyone deserved.
  • Outnumbered
  • The Colonists knew where they were and the British didn't know where they were so that led the Colonists to have secret ways of fighting. As an example guerilla warfare was a big part of the war.
  • Limited Supplies
  • The Colonists were weak and usually unorganized. The Colonial Army was mainly a bunch of people who lived their and never fought, which also led them to be untrained.
  • The Colonial Army had about 20,000 people fighting for them. Meanwhile the British had about 80,000 people fighting including about 30.000 Hessians, and 50,000 British soldiers. 
  • The supplies the Colonial Army had were supposed to last for about 6 months, but they would last for about 6 weeks. 80--->90% of the gunpowder provided during the war were from the french army.
