- On September 1, 1939 Germany invades Poland. World War II begins.
- On June 10, 1940 Italy enters the war as part of the Axis Powers
- We enter the war with the Axis Powers
- On December 7, 1941 The Japanese attack the US Navy in Pearl Harbor. The next day the US enters World War II on the side of the Allies.
- On August 6, 1945 the United States drops the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.
- On August 9, 1945, another atomic bomb is dropped on Nagasaki, Japan.
- On September 2, 1945, it was announced that Japan had surrendered to the Allies, ending World War II
