We want a say!!!
A 'Republic' is supposed to represent all of it's people! Not just the wealthy!!!
We won't tolerate this injustice!!!
We want Justice! We want a say! Change the system! We aren't happy! You owe us! We will resist! This isn't fair!
They Couldn't believe it. After all their hard work of kicking the last Etruscan King off the throne, while the Patricians just sat and watched, and now suddenly they had jumped in and taken control of the government again! This they wouldn't have minded, but in their so called 'Republic', the Plebeians still had no say!
The Patrician Senators were getting worried. What if they too were usurped like the previous Etruscan King? They started to hatch a plan.
We, the members of the Senate of the Roman Republic, In accordance to the requests of our own Plebeians, have freed up 10 spots in our sacred Senate, for 10 Plebeians to take up. One of which will become a Consul, with full veto power.
And so they announced their genius plan. Quite pleased with themselves after they heard the joyous uproar, they knew that they were safe in the assurance that they could continue their influence in the new government.
The Crowd erupted into cheers. Even Long after the Senators were gone, the Plebeians continued partying.
The Patricians and the Plebeians worked surprisingly well together They went on to do important and beneficial things like writing down their law system for the first time in The Twelve Tables.
Their new, strong government, with it's efficient balanced power, did them good, and made them stronger. This led to many long, prosperous years, and allowed them to greatly increase their power. The Roman Republic would never have been the same without it's unique government system.
